Designing Cerberus

A design of Cerberus done for a Greek Mythology Youtube series on th Underworld. I enjoyed reading about the lore of Cerberus, the interpretations on what he looked like and on what his role was.

From some accounts he had 1 head, others said 100s of heads, but the most famous interpretations are with 3 heads. Some account the 100s of heads to actually be snake heads in his mane, other show only 1 snake as a tail.

He is the loyal servant to Hades, ruler of the underworld so Cerberus's main duty was to prevent spirits leaving and stop the living from entering. I gave a loyal personality to the center head for these reasons.

There are also stories of Cerberus benevolently guiding lost spirits to the gate of Hades, seeming almost kind. This is the personality of the head on the left.

Of course there are many accounts of the furiosity of Cerberus, turning on these spirits he is guiding if they decide to turn around and leave.
